Hi

When working with assemblies in SW 2011 my curser goes into "rotate about entity mode" whenever it is over the model and the MMB is clicked (with no entity selected). Only when the MMB is clicked and the cursor is not over the model SW lets me free rotate.

Might be only an odd setting I overlooked, but it's very irritating when the model rotates about the entities the curser is currently over.

Can anybody help?

When this has happened to me before, I was told it was a graphics problem. Did you try ESC to get out of the current command? Did you try CTRL-Q (forced re-draw)? Then you can re-start SolidWorks. (I was never given a proven solution when this happened to me before.)

Well, will try your suggestion, but since it was like this for a whole week I guess it is a setting. Any more tips welcome!

I'm afraid this can't be changed afaik

If the model is completely in view, it will rotate about the model center. If you zoom in so that the model is no longer completely in view it will rotate wherever your mouse cursor happens to be over.

Do you remember it ever being different?

Your middle mouse button (MMB) may be bouncing or you mapped a single click to return a double click. You double click the MMB to put it in rotate about an entity mode. A single click would let you free rotate. Check how your buttons are mapped with your mouse driver or try another mouse.

Thanks for your answers.

Kevin, yes it should rotate wherever the cursor is, but in free rotate and not in "rotate about entity mode".

Pete, tried your suggestion as well, no luck.

Moved on now (that fixeed the problem ;-)
