I am new to AutoCad LDD. On my last project, the site would not fit on a 24 X 36 sheet of paper without rotating. To work around it, I created a viewport in paperspace and then rotated this view by changing the USC. But when I went back to model space I was forced to rotate all of my text to make it look right in paper space. I would have rotated the entire site in model space but I didnt want to ruin the coordinate system. Anybody want to help a newbie on this one? THanks

Have encountered this very problem myself a few times and have found two ways around this. (You are right in not rotating the model, this invariably causes more problems than it solves, rotate in paperspace if necessary as you have done)

Firstly, increase the papersize (or use multiple viewports) to avoid having to rotate the viewports and the text can remain at 90 degrees in the model (this is not an option by the sounds of it)

The other way round this is to work out what degree of rotation has been applied in paperspace and apply this angle to one entry of multiline text. You can then either copy and amend this for new text, or use the cloning brush to copy the rotation properties to existing text entries (isolate text layer for easier bulk changes).

These won't be the only options and maybe not the best, but it's all I know!

If you want to rotate your model space and be able to put it back to regular whenever you want and still have 0° as east and so forth try this

Use the Dview command
Select your objects or use the default house.
TW for twist and input the angle you want to rotate the drawing i.e. probably 90 or -90.

When your done twist it back to 0

Let me know if this helps.

Where possible, I prefer to place text annotations in paperspace, then they are not governed by rotation of the model.
Also lock the viewport in paperspace so that the modelspace and paperspace annotations remain aligned.

What you need to do is to save the paperspace UCS view and name it (i.e Layout View). When in model space if you use the toolbar 'UCS 11' you can easily select your new UCS by name - then create text. The secret is to sort out your views/paper size before creating text. I have tried many ways and this works the best for me.

CADSHITE,
I tried but couldnt figure out how to save a ucs view this way. everytime i save a view I am forced to save the ucs as "unknown"

Just goto the UCS dialogue box ('ucsman') after creating the 'unamed' UCS and simply rename it in here.
1. use Z-axis rotate to define new UCS
2. goto UCSMAN and rename 'unamed' to .....
3. QSAVE
