I have recently designed a machine that places 4 clips onto an automotive bracket.
Due to a (mental) lapse......
i forgot to design something to handle the 180 degree rotation in my fixture. Our mechanics have come up with something that will get the project out the door....but, i want to be better prepared next time.
Problem: Fixture is mounted on 3 position guided rod cylinder with very little clearance underneath. Approx. 8-10 1/4" airlines and 4 sensor cables are attached and need to be allowed to rotate. The cylinder is mounted on a 17 degree downslope and at mid position the fixture rotates 180 in the (semi) horizontal plane.
So, not only does the track need to unroll as the fixture gets farther away from the fixed mounting position, but it needs to unroll a full 360 (180 for travel, 180 for rotation) in a horizontal orientation to allow for the rotation.
Q. Has anyone done something like this before?? Any hints as to suitable products will be appreciated.
