rotation angle measurement of pedal with ball and socket joint 4

Hi all,

I have a pedal with a ball and socket joint in its center.
the pedal is allowed to rotate in 3D.
I need to figure a way to measure the three angle rotations.

please help!

Look in to a "laser trackball mouse". That may give you some ideas.

Is their a difference between IMUs and inclinometers??

IMU -- inertial measurement unit
inclinometer -- not inertial, i.e., no gravity vector, no measurement; it's basically a digital bubble level
