Hi Abaqus users,
I contact you because I am blocked with my problem. Let me explain you:
I am modeling a house in order to evaluate the impact of the vibration of a streetcar on the floor of a house. In this research, I need to simulate the rotation of the floor of the house around the wall. So my question is : Do you have an idea of which connection/interaction can I use to simulate this rotation ? It is a 3-D problem, the floor must rotate around the 4 walls (the axes are the intersections between the floor and the wall).
I have already tried the hinge connection and the coupling connection (with free rotation according to the direction of the axis), but without any success.
Thank you very much in advance for your help
Regards,

Can you clarify a few points:
- In which FE program are you modelling this,
- What do you mean by: 'I have already tried the hinge connection and the coupling connection (with free rotation according to the direction of the axis), but without any success.'?
- Can you post a picture of the FE model?
- What do you exactly mean by 'without any success'?

Hello Evy

You need a connection that transmits forces but not moments. Depending on the software, "coupling connection" and "hinge connection" both sound like correct ways to do it, with the coupling probably meaning the nodes on the floor are not shared by the walls but instead coupled to them through their displacement DOFs only. That's if you're using shell elements. If either the floor or walls are solid elements, you don't need any special connection and can join them along one edge. If you're not modelling the walls at all then use simple supports.
