round vs flat shielding wire

I am looking at using wire spec M27500-20LE1S05 in place of M27500-20LE1G05. The major difference is the wire braided for the shielding would be round silver coated copper instead of flat. I am trying to determine how much of a factor the shape of the shielding wire is. As a mere mechanical, this question is completely beyond me. Any
information you could provide would be greatly appreciated.

The flat braided conductor is usually used to conduct RF energy, since it propagates on the skin of the conductor. It's mostly used for grounding structures on heavy RF environment, or to enhance the shielding of an enclosure.

assuming that you are describing the cross-section of the individual wires rather than the over all shape of the braid, use of flat wire has to do with coverage effectiveness. for a given amount of copper you get higher coverage ratios for flat wire.
