Hi,

We have ANSYS/LS-DYNA license and i can generate a the LS-DYNA input file (*.k) by using "write jobname.k" option in ANSYS GUI (under solution). I can solve this separately using LS-DYNA executable as we have a separate LS-DYNA license. However when i Issue the SOLVE command with in ANSYS, the program complaints with the following message.

"The ANSYS LS-DYNA solution could not be performed.
Check the availability of the executable in the C:\Program
Files\ANSYS Inc\v130\ANSYS\bin\winx64\ directory."

Any idea on this error? I tried copying the LS-DYNA (64-bit) executable to the specified folder but no luck. Is having ANSYS/LSDYNA license is enough to solve LS-DYNA problems? or is it for only generating the input (*.k) files?

OR Am i missing any configuration required to run LS-DYNA from within ANSYS?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Nodal.

Hey NodalDOF..

Even i am facing the same problem what you were facing..did you figure out how to run dyna within ansys..

I just did a quick Google search and came across the Ansys Installation Guide ( If you go to page 199 of 252, it sounds like there might be an environmental variable that needs to be changed from ANSYS to LS-DYNA.

There is also an ANSYS LS-DYNA User Guide ( but it looks light on error help.

Good luck.

Hi, I have personally found out that the concept that works best for me is to clean up the model (step file format preferred) by the use of ANSYS Design-modeller. Export the cleaned/modified model to a new step- or igs- file. Create the mesh and the .k file with LSPrePost as it gives me full control on the mesh and the problem formulation.
