SA-513 tubing is listed in Section IIA,so according to UG-8 Section VIII Div.1 of ASME CODE may be used for shells.
However Sa-513 is not listed in the properities Section IID. Can I use it for my shell and what about maximum allowable stress values ? Any suggestions about common carbon steel tubing material for Section VIII Div.1 construction ?
Thanks

I'm not familiar with SA-513, but if the allowables are not listed in II-D then you are pretty much out of luck. Try to get SA-106 B. It is probably the most common pipe material for vessels

I need 8"O.D.x.125" THK and 10" O.D.x .125" THK shell, so I can not use any pipe.

haber, you also need to confirm that SA 513 is allowed IAW Table UCS-23. It is not listed. You MAY be able to use UG-15 but that can be hit or miss.

SA-513 is not to be used for pressure parts. It can be made from numerous AISI alloy grades. This spec is for "Mechanical" tubing.
