Hello,

I was trying to compare the results between SACS inbuilt plate stiffner section & using the member section as a stiffner for the plate.
The results vary a lot & I need some help understanding the concept.. I had attached the files for reference.
For Left half portion of the structure, I used a plate stiffner section & for the right half, modelled amember section & used the option (use as a stiffner where the stem is attched to the plate). Both the stiffners are of same properties. And applied constant pressure on the plates.
My question is why the stresses are not symmetrical as I modelled the structure symmetrically.

Please refer to the attched files for better idea..

Thanks for the help...

Hi,
For the right part, angle and plate do not act as single stiffened plate member which is the case for the left part. So the structure is not symmetrical as u thought so it's expected two different results.
