Safe filling height of the tank after installing aluminium dome roof 1

Hi.
Want to clarify whether the safe filling height will get reduced after installing aluminium dome roof on an External Floating Roof. The existing sliding ladder on the floating roof should prevail after the dome installation. There should be NO MODIFICATION in the sliding ladder(i.e)reducing its length,etc. By what means we can keep the sliding ladder on the floating roof?

If we attach the sliding ladder to the tank shell, will the safe filling height of the tank gets reduced? If so, what are the other methods to keep the sliding ladder in the tank without affecting the safe filling height?

You might discuss this with the aluminum dome vendors.
By sliding ladder, do you mean a rolling stairway?

Be reasonable here. How is anyone supposed to know given you've supplied no drawings or sketches of the existing situation or the new situation. Normally dome roofs to an existing EFR tank are retrofit to reduce wind / rain load and hence should be designed to avoid any reduction in safe filling height.

Be mindful that once the roof is fitted, the interior of the tank above the floating roof could very easily become a "confined space" where if you're storing hydrocarbons the space could become filled with explosive vapour and you might not be allowed down there any more so it might be a good idea to get rid of the ladder / stairs.

Without some more information here we're all just guessing.

Aluminum fixed roofs can be installed with vertical sidewalls to accommodate almost any obstruction. Taller sidewalls cost more. As mentioned above, there are many other considerations: seals, foam baffle plates, ladder, access, shell overflow elevation, etc.

My answer to your question is: safe fill height may be reduced but can probably be maintained with careful planning.
