Hello,
Could you please advice me on safety procedure(s) to monitor and control the pH of basins containing biological organisms.
The BET plant is a conventional one with one effluent feed tank, 4 aerated basins and 2 final clarifiers.
The pH within the basin should be kept around 6.5 to preserve sludge activity. However, depending on upstream operations, the influent pH may vary and need adjustement.
I was looking at regulating the pH within the Feed Tank but because the basins behave differently, a better solution would be to adjust the pH directly into the basins. The other risk is contaminating all the basins with an excess of caustic added to that tank (pH reading fault, leaks...).
My concern is how to avoid overdosing in case of unreliability in the pH meter reading. Are there any safety procedures to follow in order to achieve/maintain the correct pH range?
