Our company is looking into incorporating SolidWorks 2010 with SAP PLM. Anyone out there have experience with this? If so what are the good and bad points. We have been using PDMWorks for 10 years.

I would suggest you check out xPLM. Good stuff!

Thanks JohnPi

Are you using xPLM with SolidWorks now? If so, did you migrate from PDMWorks?

Glenn,

Not a user. Work for a company that implements EPDM software.

Had the pleasure of working with xPLM at one of my customers.

The customer was in the process of switching from SAP to Enterprise PDM to vault their SW data. They used Cideon (SW add-in client for SAP) with SAP, but found it too costly and required too much custom programming.

I am a little confused. This customer was using Cideon/SAP and then was moving to SolidWorks Enterprise. Where did the xPLM come in? Please clarify.

Thanks

Glenn

Sorry for the confusion.

The found the Cideon/SAP solution for vaulting SolidWorks data to be too expensive and lacking in capabilities.

They now vault their data in Enterprise PDM, and use the xPLM interface for Enterprise PDM to push and pull data between their CAD data and SAP.

Thanks for the reply. We are just starting the preliminary leg work for this project so the degree of integration is still undetermined. I was hoping that we could mostly use "out of the box" solutions with very little if any custom programming.

I should have mentioned, for my customer, xPLM completed the installation of their software to link Enterprise PDM and SAP in ONE DAY!
