I have some questions regarding SAP modeling:
1. What does SAP understand if two area sections with different thicknesses are modeled adjacent to each other, does it understand that the centerlines of the two sections are coincident? if yes, can I offset one area section to make the edges of the two sections coincident?

2. can we offset support location from center of area/frame sections?

3. if I'm modeling an actual frame by frame sections coinciding with centerline of actual frame members, does the SAP calculate the stiffness of sections using length of modeled frames or length minus end offsets?

Msaffouri,
the answer to the First Question:
yes the centerlines of the two sections are coincident.
Yes and it will appear when you make section extrusion
the answer to the second Question:
yes, and a negative moment with result in the analysis of two-hinged simple beam
the answer to the third Question:
I don't know about the length used in the calculation, but I know that the SAP will take the effect of the rigid part in the analysis

My question is :what you want to do anyway
Regards

I'm modeling spandrel with large opening.

bear with me please:
How can I offset an area section?
how can I offset support?

Thanks
