SAP2000 Auto Wind Exposure - missing the Frame option 1

Hi there,

It's my first thread here and I hope I'll find a solution here.
I'm modeling a 3d steel tower and for the first time I'd like to use the option automatic wind to be applied.
I watched several tutorials - all is clear, except that the option for Frame exposure is missing - see the pic in attachment.
At first I decided that maybe it;s because Ii have to assign section properties to the frames and than the option will be active. But no - I get the same screen.
Using SAP v21 version. The code is Eurocode 2005. But I tried for the other codes and I the option is still missing.

I hope someone knows what the problem might be.

You're right. I checked in sap2000 v18, the option is not available for Eurocode. Although the option is working fine for ASCE codes.

Yep.
I honestly have no idea how will I apply the windloading though. And also it will take a large amount of calculating beforehand.

Perhaps you can scale your results using the ASCE/Eurocode winds?

Trenno, you mean to input the wind load for ASCE and than scale the values to be relevant for Eurocode?
Is there a way to scale the load pattern in SAP2000 and not manually changing the loads for each frame element?
I'm sorry if it's a stupid question..

Yes, exactly. I would use the basic wind pressure the two codes come up with to scale the result within the Load Case or Load Combination itself.

Thanks a lot, Trenno!
Another thing to ask - ok, I'm loading the structure with the USA code based wind, where the wind input is in (mph) units. But in general I'm working with kN, m, C units.
I have some doubts that the software will convert the mph input value of the wind to m/s...
Will the results be correct if the wind input is in mph, but all the rest is in kN, m ?

Again, can you not just scale and convert from metric/imperial?

It is clear what you say.
The thing is that I'm in Europe. I have the basic wind pressure, given in the NA - it's in m/s, but ofc I can convert it to mph, if necessary.
When I'm inputting the wind data, I choose the ASCE 7-05 code, in order to get any loading on each frame of the structure, which is not activated for Eurocode.
In the "Modify lateral load" window I have to fill in the basic wind pressure. But since I choose the American auto wind, the input should be in mph (see the pic attached).
All the rest in my model is in metric system.
So inputting the wind in imperial is def not correct. But it would be not correct if I input it in m/s. And I need my output in metric.
Any idea what value should I input in this field, if i'm working in metric, but they want it in imperial?
Sorry for the dummy question, but it never happened to me to use a code other than Eurocode..

Regards,
