Just migrated, finally, from Ideas and I am looking for a capability we used a lot with translated data. The Ideas function is under the menus and is basically Join Assy without History and output a part. The resultant part contains all of the geometric entities as the Assy.

I think I have tried all of the obvious ways to do this in UG NX6, but I can not seem to find it. It is probably so simple. Can someone help.

Thanks

Yes there is. Just open your assembly, go to...

Assemblies -> Components -> Create New Component...

...and enter some name and hit OK. Make this new component the Work Part. Now go to...

Insert -> Associative Copy -> WAVE Geometry Linker...

...under settings toggle OFF all the options including 'Associative', set the Type to 'Body' and do a 'Select All' and hit OK. Now do a...

File -> Save Work Part Only

...and you've got it. Now when you open this model you may note that the bodies are all identified as 'Linked Body's', but the links are all 'broken' since they were not created in an associative manner, so you can just ignore this as it will have no real impact on your model.

My thanks to both of you and so fast! I have been messing with this for the last two weeks and searching the forum for a couple of days before I decided to post it.

I turns out that I am in the exact situation as the origional post that John replied to. This solves my issues and helps me keep TeamCenter clean.

Thank you very much!

I just use File>Export>Part and then turn on "All Objects" under the "Object Selection Scope". You then have the choice under the "Feature Parameters" section to either keep or discard the feature parameters.

If you keep the parameters when exporting solids you'll also take with you ever sketch, curve, sheet, point or datum used to support the parametric model. Few people when effectively combining components into a single file actually want to create that situation because you wind up with a jumble of geometry and parameters that are quite unmaintainable and make the file size much larger. A lot of the time you may not need the parameters for your intended downstream use of the data.
