Saving Inventor file as dwg

I have a client who needs one of my Inventor Assembly drawings so he can work with it in a 3d program. He needs a .dwg file.
Is there a way to save an Inventor Assembly File (.iam) as a .dwg?
There is nothing in Inventor's "Save Copy As", or "Export".

This client needs to work with a 3d autocad file of this assembly.

I am currently using Inventor 2010.
ANY help would be appreciated.

I'm assuming your crazy customer is using Autocad as their "3d program".
In Inventor savecopyas your model to a .sat file
Autocad can easily import .sat files.

No. The customer is using some sort of presentation program that he uses my 3d image to do a presentation with. He said that his program can use a 3d .dwg file.
If I can't make a .dwg file from the .iam, I'll have to see if his program can use a different file extension.
His first preference was a .dwg extension.

What other formats can his program use?
iges/stp/stl (I bet it can import at least one of those)

Or better yet what program is he actually using.

He hasn't said what program he is using.
I will have to ask what other format he can use.
He originally said his first choice was .dwg.

Export to sat in Inventor..Import into Autocad..save as dwg.
But I'd think he could use other formats that might be better/easier for you to provide him with..

Thanks for the help. I saved to sat, then imported in AutoCad, then saved as dwg.
I am going to send it to customer and see if that's okay.
I was going to do the same for a Inventor Presentation drawing, but I see you cannot export to a .sat from a presentation drawing. I guess he won't get an exploded view. If you know of a way for that, please let me know

Why don't you do the following:
In your assembly or part go to Applications (2009) or Environments (2010) and select AEC Exchange. Then select the Save as DWG solids command.
For the Presentation file, just create an animation yourself and render it to an AVI or WMV for him.
Although if he is using the DWG solids he should be able to pull things apart himself.

No you cannot export an ipn file to sat for some reason...

I guess he won't get an exploded view. If you know of a way for that, please let me know

Save your assembly with a different name, say Exploded.

Then move your parts apart or with constraint offsets.
Applications (or Environments in 2010) AEC Exchange>Save as DWG Solids.

Make sure you know what version of DWG they need. You might need to open in AutoCAD or DWG True View and set to earlier release of AutoCAD.
