Saving SolidWorks Drawings into AutoCad format

Saving Drawings into Autocad format is working well, using the mapping functionality to place certain types of things onto layers. The tool allows you to choose dimensions onto it's own layer for example as you export, it recognizes the different features on a drawing well enough and the map file works to help. The only concern we have is that any blocks in SW that have attributes assigned to them don't take the colour property from the mapping file.

Not a big issue, it just would be damn cool and slick if the blocks with attributes were to take the colour from the map file created. (so it would be white on black rather than black on black.

It's a trial and error to make it work right for you.
Sorry, but I never understood the concept of saving SW drawings to Autocad. Why not use the SW drawings to keep the parametric capabilities?
Saving to ACAD is now duel effort to track drawings. I have done this at other companies, SW eventually won and ACAD being removed.

Yep, I am a pure 3D person, SolidWorks or anything I think is better that I can get my paws on. I never get attached to any one company/software, just in case some one gets better, it's easier to switch.

however, large multinational companies have policies of project as builts submitted in AutoCad.

We did some manual cleanup and the drawings will be submitted later this week.

As much as I despise AutoDesk, I have seen a file here at Berry that Draftsight cannot handle, and it would be far too hard to create in Solidworks. The Drawing that is in AutoCAD has several referenced drawings brought into a single drawing which represents our entire plant here in Evansville, IN. It includes all the lines and everything in between. It would be nice to move away from AutoDesk, but Dassualt Systems` does not make any software that I am aware of handle anything like what we have.... so I can understand how something like this needs to stay inside AutoCAD, but anything else that is not Architectural should be made in SW ...

Even though some industries have been slow to the 3D world, I think it's too bad because they could have pushed the software to be better everywhere. I hate Autocad for anything actually, but we still have to deal with it.

After using Pro-E and Solidworks for 20 years combines, I feel handicapped every time I have to use Drasftsight / autocad for anything.
Having learned Autocad in college, I remember Zoom all... That's about it. LOL
