Hi guys,
I know it's probably been answered before, but how can I save all my preferences and customised toolbars when re-installing or upgrading ?

bc,

I don't know if custom toolbars will come across but you can get your preferences by copying part/assembly template files from your old \Solid Edge V_\program\ folder to the new \Solid Edge V_\program\ folder. I still use normal.par, normal.asm, normal.psm, normal.dft files as my template files. You may have made your own.

bc,

get into registry editor and export the following key
(login with that ID that will use SE)

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Unigraphics Solutions\Solid Edge\Version XX

xx = the version you have
Durig *reinstall* in import is not necessary because removal
of SE will not remove the above key, but it will do no harm.

After an *upgrade* you have to edit the exported .reg file
and replace the version number. You may then try to import
key back into the registry by double clicking on it and
check if everything is OK

But be warned: there may be some different settings/meaning
of certain registry fields as seen by the new version.

Therefore it's not unwise to create a checkpoint after the
upgrade which will enable you to switch back. I would recommend
to do this before installing a patch too just in case the
patch has some flaws.

The other key is this one:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Unigraphics Solutions\Solid Edge\Version XX

but here the only member of importance is the template
path in case you've modified it.
