We are developing an application, where we apply to the surface of a SBR suface a Polyurethane Sheet.

As we are structural engineers, we are at a loss to solve the problem that is stopping our progress.

The problem is we are getting staining discolouration of the TPU when applied to the SBR surface. We understand the the problem is caused by oils in the SBR, bloomimg to the TPU.

The solution would be to place a barrier between the SBR and the TPU, we have to keeb some flexability with both materials. A film or adative to the TPU could solve it.

We would be interested in anyone who may have a solution??

Many thanks

The staining could also be due to the antioxidant used in the SBR compound. If this is one of the para-phenylenediamine family then the staining will persist. You will need to change this to a hindered phenol type.

WRT the oil used, change this to a paraffinic type oil, which will not stain.
