I need to make a model of a full size component (already drawn). How do I produce a new part that is 1/3 the size of the original?

I will then make some small modifications to this 1/3 scale part: so I would not be able to just change the drawing scale in the drawing.

Thanks for any help

There is a scale feature so you just need to create a copy of the part then apply the scale feature to it.

Thanks Klestor. Where is the scale feature on Solidworks 2005?

Insert pull down menu, features then scale 7 down from top

Thanks again Kev. Unfortunately the insert/features drop down on my Solidworks 2005 does not have the 'scale' option.(7th down is 'shape')

Insert > Features > Customize Menus then select missing features.

Better still, RMB on any unused Toolbar space & select Customize > Options then select both Show All buttons, this will make all the Shortcuts & Menu Selections available for all functions.

This isn't AutoCAD, and I'm not sure if it is even possible to modify your dimension scale, but if you can, you shouldn't even consider it.

You should search for scale in SW help.
