SCH10s SS347H pipe for heat exchanger/pressure vessel

Dear all engineers,

Good day to you. I am designing a heat exchanger/pressure vessel using SS347H pipes. In order to save the weight of the unit, we proposed using SCH10s thickness pipes. I have checked with ASME VIII Div. 1 thickness calculation and thinning of the thickness during bending, all seemed okay.

So, my question is, beside checking the minimum required thickness using ASME code, is that anything else I need to take precautions?

Recommended for you

Have you considered corrosion allowance (UG-25)? Or any other allowances?
Is the thickness above the code minimum thickness? (e.g. UG-16(b), UG-36(c)(3)(-a)(-1) and (-2), UG-45)

Furthermore, I'd check if the pipes are available in 10S. Whats your size? Also, you dont need tubes, but pipes instead?

Yes, I have considered 1 mm corrosion allowance and the thickness is above the minimum required thickness + corrosion allowance.

Our pipe size is around 2.5 - 3.0", and yes we are asking for pipes instead of tubes.

 
A question like that begs another question: are you qualified to design pressure equipment?

You need to consider:
a)Postfabrication strain limit and required heat treatment
b)Ovality tolerances after bending
And consult with pressure vessel designer.
