Hi Group ....

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend and not working too hard!

So, I work with a smaller testing / inspection firm. At this time, there are a handful of inspectors. We are bouncing different ideas for a user-friendly dispatch phone app. As there are both Android and IOS users. Something that can be used across platforms. Something that each individual inspector can input schedule changes, next day inspections, or pertinent notes if job getting handed over the next day to another inspector etc.... Can anyone offer any insight if there is something out there that might make life a little easier pertaining to scheduling? Don't really want to get into a big software platform at this time.

Thanks, and stay Safe!

Bill

Company has the big platform software that does scheduling, reporting, holds plans, etc... Our office is smaller with a field staff of 7. We still use the dry erase board and text a picture every evening of schedule to the group chat. Everyone sends back a thumbs up picture to confirm that the schedule has been received.

While technology can be beneficial for these items, keep in mind how your field staff is with technology as it may discourage some of your staff that may not be the most technologically savvy.

Personally, I would be leery about people putting in their schedule and scheduling for the next day. We make it very clear scheduling should be done through the project's PM so that nothing gets missed. It is very easy for a contractor to tell a technician of a concrete pour to schedule for the next day in the field and due to doing 5 other things on a job site, it can be easy to forget/relay what was said. Dealing with the "he/said she/said" for missed inspections due to this is always a headache.
