Hi,

I have a suction scrubber with design capacity 7600 ltrs and on debottlenecking , I increase the compressor from 1.5 MSm3/d to 2.5 MSm3/d by decreasing the discharge pressure of compressor and keep suction pressure as constant.Compressor is located downstream to scrubber and this is used in gas processing unit.

Will I need to look into scrubber capacity and I am in the opinion that scrubber takes as much gas it can and its capacity is limited by compressor capacity.

If so,What other things I need to take care and also please help me the resource for sizing scrubber.

Thanks in advance.Appreciate your reply in this regard.

Yes, you need to look at the capacity of the separator if you are increasing the capacity of the compressor over the flow rate used to size the separator.

Look up the Sounder Brown equation. If you have a secondary means of removing liquids out of the gas stream such as a mesh pad or vane pack in the separator, those will allow you to handle more gas through the same sized vessel compared to one without those devices.

Thank you.I am using axial cyclone and demister plate. The K-factor is above 2 and I used correction factor (0.8).

Will it means that the scrubber efficieny is low and there will be liquid entraintment.

How to calculate the pressure drop across axial cyclone??
