We have oil free package Ingersoll Rand Sierra SH300 and observed that 1st stage airend and 2nd stage airend seal ports are blowing heavily hot air. Is this a normal phenomenon? please see the attached photo.

I understand, this ports(openings) will leak only whenever there is a seal failure. however vendor advised, they shall have air blow even during normal running.

All seals leak. How much is too much? You need to measure it, but if you can feel it coming out "blowing" it sounds like too much to me... Find out from the vendor what is the acceptable air loss through the seals and then try and measure the flow through the ports or estimate velocity and work it out from there.

Dear LittleInch,
Thanks for your reply.
Yes. I can do this. however still I need to understand; during normal conditions (seals are ok), should we see any air coming from these openings?

Please note that, this unit still under commissioning! it is recently installed.

Regards

Without knowing or seeing the details of the seals in that particular chamber it's not easy to say, but in general yes, there will be some leakage - the question is when is some too much.

for a new machine there really shouldn't be any significant flow but should be more of a "seep"

Get the seal data. I've been surprised before at how much is still within allowable range.
