Dear all,

I am currently looking for the best adhesive/sealant for a watertight aluminium container. The container is filled with paraffin oil and is kept at low temperature within range -5degC to 5 degC. Previously I used epoxy based adhesive (araldite) to seal the container opening but it still leak.
I am very appreciate if any of you can advise or suggest me a better sealant that suits the application.

Thank you.

Go open a can of beer and drain the contents.

Now carefully section the top/shell joint, and try to deduce its design parameters. Note that such cans are produced by the billions, and have a pretty low failure rate.

Consider the possibility that your joint design is not sufficient to allow _any_ adhesive to work.

This container is just a small rectangle box with small opening at the top. As the other side it is properly welded.

You used an adhesive that has a good track record.
The stated environment is benign.

Therefore, if you got a failure, the fault lies in:
- your process
- your preparation
OR
- your joint design.

I am asking to get idea and opinion, not unsupportive blame. If you dont want to give opinion, just leave it be

Adhesives bond two things together.

In this context an opening is not a thing.
