Hello all,

I have lost my copy of "How To Evaluate the Effects of Spline Misalignments" by Earle Buckigham, published in Machinery September 1961 pages120-128.

Do any of you kind souls out there have a copy that you can share with me please? I feel like my left arm has been cut off.....

Thanks in advance!

@gearcutter & @Exacture, is there a way to private message on the forum? If not, do you guys have an email I can contact you at?

Look at my profile signature, there you'll find my contact details.
Thanks for going to the effort.

I just went ahead an uploaded it, since it's easier than sending it out individually. Let me know if you guys know of any other useful articles on spline design. I am not far from the library of congress and they have just about every journal, periodical, and book imaginable.

@724Napier - you got a star! THANK YOU. [cheers] I just got that file and it was like an old friend came to visit.

You are on my Christmas card list now. Hit me up through my signature details and keep in touch.

@Exacture, no problem glad I could help. It's funny, because like you I have also found splines to be one of the most misunderstood topics in engineering. There also seems to be little information on the topic other than this article and the ones written by Dudley.

Well I finally got the chance to read this much sort after article by Buckingham.
As those who have already read it know, it's main subject is crowned gear couplings.
As some have already suggested; it's very dated and somewhat limiting in scope.

For a more modern look at gear couplings; how to evaluate and design them - far more detailed sources of information are available;

* 'Couplings & Joints' by Jon R. Mancuso.
* 'Flexible Couplings: Their Design, Selection and Use' by Michael M. Calistrat; Andrew B. Calistrat

Both books are still available.

Something that's often overlooked with these couplings is the effect that they can have on other parts within the transmission.
Both books deal with these issues.
