Hi guys
I have a issue kind of very urgent. I would appreciate if any one can throw some light on this.

I got a spiked wheel kind of design,in which I do not want to show the profile above the pitch circle in the section cut. Can I do it in V5?
Is there any option that would allow me to define this?
If so , how do I define the pitch circle in drafting( is it in part design or in drafting)? and there by relate asking it to ignore the part above it in sectioning.
I know I can ask catia to ignore sectioning of a part in an assembly by chosing one of the options do not cut in section in drafting. But,in a single part can we define this way.
I have come across some standard drawings drafted this way( Probably in autocad).
I would really appreciate a reply. Please let me know if you are not clear.
Thanks
KK

Have you tried the OverLoad properties on the Section View? Right Click the view, go to View Object, Overload Properties, select the Part, edit it, and tell it not to cut.

I'm not sure if this is what you are asking for, but it's worth a shot.

Hey Jim
thank you very much for a quick reply.
But like I said ,overload properties works great in a product mode when we dont want a particular part not to be sectioned.
I am talking about seperating the section view in a single part. It is not a product. With in a independent part,I need to know if I can control the sectioning ,i.e ask catia to not section some area with in the part.
I am sorry If Iam vague in the first post.
Thanks

Sorry about that.

No, I am not aware of any way to do what you are asking. Sorry :-(

If I'm understanding you correctly you only want to show in the section cut the material you are cutting through and not what is projected beyond the cut.
If so use offset section cut instead of offset section view to make the view.

Puck
