Hello all.

IN o.o.t.b. NX it is not possible to change a view label to an already used letter. I cannot have two (or more) views having the same label A-A for instance...
I was wondering where this behavior is coming from.
Is there some standard (ISO,EN,DIN,JIS etc) describing this? or is this just a Siemens decision?
If so (Siemens decision) what would be the reasoning behind this?

Our (Former IDeas) users would like to be able to have multiple views (or section lines) with the same label and are now using workarounds to accomplish that. Removing the label and replace them with a note.
If possible (and suggested by GTac) I would create an ER for that if standards aren't blocking this...

My guess is that it is based from a drafting standard, because it is pretty much common sense not to use the same letter twice.

While in general you do not want to use a section letter more than once, there are situations where multiple sections would be identical and a common label would be desired.

Perfect! Just what I needed right now. My situation is not multiple views with the same letter, but multiple views acting like one section. For example, sectioning a long assembly twice to get a section of each end, that when put together, look like a broken view. (An old I-DEAS trick by an old I-DEAS modeler [wink]) Why do it this way? Because the NX Broken View command results in too much grief.
So I need to hide one view label, and then any successive views (more sections, details, etc) end up being a letter off. Not any more - thank you!
