Hello all,

what is Seismic Provisions, Is it a complementary code for ASCE that we should follow whenever we are designing structures for seismic loads or Is it only need to be followed in some certain cases ?
Would really appreciate if someone could guide me about the Seismic provisions and when one need to consider Seismic Provisions in the design

Building Codes such as the IBC, Standards such as ASCE 7, and material-specific Manuals such as those published by ACI and AISC all have seismic provisions in them.

Often, you see AISC’s 341 referred to as the “Seismic Provisions” because the entire Manual is devoted to seismic design requirements (for steel).

You are to use the Codes which are the law of your land.
