Selecting Elements in ANSYS APDL 1

I am using ANSYS APDL for the analysis. I want to select some elements from the model after doing my analysis but due to deformation of the model the elements location change and are not selected by suitable commands.
If somebody could help me in getting the pre-analysis geometry that will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Geometry and mesh do not change after solution unless you do UPCOORD or UPGEOM. If thats what you are doing, select the elements before, and make them a component with the CM command.

Thank you Rick for your reply,
Yes I am using UPGEOM Command (initial imperfection). Since the selection of items is needed in the postprocessing so to select item in preprocessing will not be a good option that is why I was searching if there is some command which will give me the shape of geometry before UPGEOM.
Thanks

What is your selection criteria?

I select elements based on Path command in APDL. I take a specified path and select the elements crossing that path but due to initial imperfection I am not able to do so.

Is there a way to select the elements touching another plan. I was planning to solve the above problem by defining a plan instead of path.

Thanks in advance
