Selection of Better Material for Vessel Construction 2

Hi everyone,

We are using a horizontal rotating vessel/mixer made of SA-283 Grade C. Due to erosion the vessel shell needs to be replaced every two three years. How do I select a better material with higher hardness, economical and that can easily fabricated. Any standard for selection of vessel material. The medium temperature is approximately 100C and pressure is atmospheric.

My hesitation about very hard material (such as WC) is how sensitive it is to thermal and mechanical shock.
With an austenitic material there is still a thermal expansion miss-match but all of the materials are ductile.
There are many ways to apply these surface materials, HVOF, weld overlay, arc spray, and a few more.
Find someone in your region that does overlay and see what methods and materials they are most comfortable with.

The paddles are used to move forward the mixture. significant thickness loss occurs at the discharge side.

What is the material of paddle mixers? I think for your mixer cilinder an hardfacing material would result.
