Selective load of components

When you open a CATProduct is it possible for it to automatically load only certain Components on activation?
I have load referenced documents switched off.

Yup,

One way is to go to your options/product structure/product visualization and select "do not activate default shapes open"

You can then manually select the products you would like to load.
