A.Introduction <br>
<br>
The course provides an introduction to and an awareness of the materials and methods for enhancing damping in vibrating structures. The course is structured such that the early lectures provide basic instruction in damping models and the measurement of damping, leading to practical applications of surface damping treatments. The course closes with an awareness of active damping methods and looks at some of the novel materials that are being considered for structural applications.<br>

B. Course <br>
<br>
The course is especially aimed at product designers who have an interest in the field of noise control engineering and product design, and also researchers who have experience in the field of low noise design or noise control of machinery.<br>
<br>
This course can also be an excellent opportunity for the researchers, senior scientists and engineers working for industry or university, to acquire basic knowledge in vibration control or to enhance and update their technical skills.<br>

C.Registration <br>
<br>
Attendees who are registered from the other companies will be asked to share basic cost of the course. The amount of the share will be 400 US $. (ASME and IEEE members might pay the discounted fee of 325.,US $) The course fee will cover all course notes, lunches and the course dinner. <br>

He holds MSc, PhD, CEng, FIMechE, FRSA, FRAeS. He is currently heading the Department of Mechanical Engineering, at the University of Sheffield. He has a world wide reputation in non-linear vibrations and structural behavior. He has been recognized as a leading scientist on this topic.<br>

Michael Brennan is a Lecturer in Smart Structures and is Chairman of the Dynamics Research Group in ISVR. He holds the degrees of BA(Hons), MSc and PhD; he is a Chartered Engineer and a Member of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Since 1991 Michael’s research interests have been in the area of the passive and active control of sound and vibration.<br>
