Hello everybody,

I am trying to prepare some Autocad drawings to be sent to the customer. The person who has received the files sent for the first time called me and told me the drawings are not complete or there are errors generated by not found xrefs... Can anybody explain me which is the best way to handle the external references (xrefs) in autocad drawings in order to avoid such problems? I tried to find some answers in the help (documentation) of Autocad, but there is just a brief description...
I have to mention that I am working in Autocad 2006 (german version).
Thank you in advance for any advice on this topic.

Bind the xrefs to the drawing is one way.

Etransmit

Use the etransmit command and pick the option to have all included files put in one folder.

Just a thought. You need to make sure the person you are sending to extracts from the zip folder (if compressed). If they do not do this, then the xrefs will not be found/loaded.

I always Etransmit the entire project (if using project navigator or sheet set manager). And even more important, when etransmitting, set it to place all files in one folder. That way, the folder path structure on your server is removed from the xrefs. Otherwise, your client will not have functioning xrefs.
