Separating joint in sand casting

Hi , i'm a new user and i'm looking for an information about sand casting :
Could the separate joint be non-flat , like that : -\_/- instead of ------ ?

Are you talking about the parting line? The parting line is the where the cope (top) and drag (bottom) meet. If so, I think you are looking for what we call an "offset parting line."

Yes it depends on how you select or create your parting line. There is quite a thought before establishing a parting line. Please read any Casting Design book for more information.

A parting line could be like that (yellow) in sand casting process ?

Yes, you may create that parting surface . It all depends primarily on the dimensional accuracy and machining requirement, along with metallurgical soundness.

The question is : Is the flask (the box ) could have the right shape
In this picture the parting line is flat due to the shape of box ?
