When modeling in UG NX8.5, can you change the TOP, FRONT, LEFT, etc views to orient to a UCS instead of the WCS?
Say I am working on an angled surface and I want that to be the TOP view when I click Ctrl+Alt+T

The eight default views are hardcoded and cannot be changed, at least not orientation wise.

Try this, select the "angled face" and then press the 'F8' key.

Thanks John
I knew that one, just wondered if you could change the views like you can in SolidWorks. At least I know I used to be able to 15 years ago. [bigsmile]

Hi you can go View - operation - set view to wcs You can then go to save as at the bottom of the operation menu and once you have saved this view it will appear in your model view in your part navigator so you can just click on it to get back to your view.

If you wish, you can also create a custom "view set". You can specify a certain view, such as a top view, and the system will generate other views based on it (front, right, isometric, etc.). The new views will not override the existing, canned views, but can be used along with them.

How do you create a custom view set? This sounds quicker than my way.

Thank you Daniel Lamb

In the part navigator, right click the "model views" node and choose "add view set". Orient your view to the desired "base view", check which views you want to generate based on this base view and press OK.

Thank you this will be very useful to me.
