I am running Acad Map 08. i would like to bring the shapefiles for my catch basins and manholes from the city into a new cad file. i figured out how to bring the shapefiles into the drawing, but it brings them in as points. is there any way to have the shapefiles come in with a symbol instead of the autocad point. the point isn't easy to see.

You could change your Pdmode to some thing other than 0, 34 gives you a X with a circle. Look in Format > Point Style to see the options. Notice that there is an option for size - absolute or relative to screen.

go to the format pull down menu, select point style command and its related dialogue box will have a series of point shapes to select from.

I figured this out. Thanks for the help. actually created a new block in the drawing and changed the insert entity to the CB and MH blocks. It was pretty simple once i created the new blocks...thanks.
