There was a time when we could purchase a PDF of a building code, put it on our server, and our whole office would have access to the file. I don't see this as being any different than an office purchasing a hard-copy and placing it on their bookshelf for everyone to share. Now, it seems like the only way to get an electronic copy of the code is through a locked version that can only be accessed by 1 individual. We have a medium-sized group of engineers that are (unfortunately) spread out amongst several offices across the country, so the ability to share electronic copies of codes is important. Does anyone have any suggestions for the most economic legal way to accomplish this? Do any of the code providers offer "unlocked" PDF's that can be located on a shared server?
