I am reviewing "shear capacity of pile" calculations for a 24 in. pile and I am had a question in a particular calculation. Here is the info I have:
Vc = (2)(f`c^0.5)(Ae) and Ae = 0.85Ag.
This calculation is showing that Ae = 452 in^2.
But from my calcs. I think that for a 24 in. diameter pile Ag should be 452 in^2, hence Ae should be 384 in^2 based on Ae = 0.85Ag.
I do not agree with the calcs that I am reviewing but I don't have a reference to back me up. Do you guys know where I can find "shear capacity of pile" reference. Maybe there is something that I am missing.
THANKS
