Hello, I have two questions
A.Where are the greatest amount of stress in a thin panel under a sideway load?
B.What formula is used to calculate that stress?
Here is a rough sketch I have prepared of what I think is happening.
Detail 'A' give the size of the panel.
Detail 'B' shows the stretch in a piece of cloth under load.
Detail 'C' shows the metal panel and what I believe is the area of stress.
Detail 'D' shows the amount of stress along that line of stress.
Below all the views is my calculation showing what I believe is the amount of stress in that panel. Also its direction.
Does this look right. After this is answered (hopefully)there is another question of the same subject. Thanks all Don.
