Hello everyone,
Following the discussion: Link, if I would like to evaluate the shear stress at the base of the plate,
what safety factor should I select to compute the allowable shear stress?
The AISC 360-16, G.1 (Design of Members for Shear) , recommends Yield Strength / 1.67 (Equivalent to Yield Strength * 0.6)
The AISC 360-16, F.4 (Allowable Shear Stress - Beams and Other Flexural Members), recommends Yield Strength * 0.4.
I'm a little bit confused due to the description of chapters.
Thank you for your help.
