shear+torsion reinforcement in ETABS

Good Day,

ETABS shows different shear + torsion reinforcement areas between what is displayed on screen using "Display Design Info" and what is shown in the Beam Design Summary table. Any idea why that would be the case? Also, how can I get the values shown on screen using the tables or any other 'exportable' or 'API' method?

  1. The display on screen might reflect real-time calculations or adjustments made during the design process, while the summary table may represent finalized values after all checks and balances have been applied.
  2. The software allows users to set preferences that can affect how results are displayed. For instance, if a user has enabled certain options for detailed output or specific design codes, this could lead to variations in what is shown on-screen versus what is summarized in tables.
  3. If changes were made to the model after running a design check, such as modifications to loads, boundary conditions, or member properties, these updates might not be uniformly reflected across all outputs until a full re-analysis is performed.
  4. Differences may also arise from rounding errors or precision settings within ETABS. The software might display values with different significant figures depending on where they are shown
  5. Ensure that you are using the same version of ETABS throughout your project since updates can change how data is processed and displayed.
  6. Use the built-in export functions of ETABS to generate reports that include detailed design information.
  7. Navigate to File > Export > Report, where you can select options for exporting detailed design results including shear and torsion reinforcement areas.
  8. ETABS provides an API (Application Programming Interface) that allows users to extract data programmatically.
  9. Refer to the ETABS API documentation for functions related to beam design results; look for methods such as Get Beam Design Results which will allow you to pull detailed reinforcement data directly into your script.
  10. Ensure that your analysis settings are correctly configured before running any designs; this includes load combinations and design codes.
  11. After making any changes, re-run your analysis and check both outputs again for consistency.
  12. If discrepancies persist despite following these steps, consult the official ETABS documentation or reach out to technical support for clarification regarding specific cases of output differences.
