Hi all,
When designing a concrete rectangular concrete shear wall and computing for the max compression and tension with applied moment and axial load, I have been told from a senior some time ago that, in regards to the tension side, this will give us the f_ult. We will need to design for the elastic region f_yield and generally as a rule of thumb, it found to be within 1/8 to 1/12 of the total wall length. As of today, I cannot find any resources that mention this. Does anyone know where this is values are coming from ?
Thanks for your time.
