Hi

I am new to FEA. I am using LSDYNA fully integrated shell 16 for one of my analysis. I am afraid there will be shearlocking. Can I avoid this by using finer mesh sizes? Please clarify will it be a solution other tips are welcome.

I've never used LS-Dyna, but I know selectively reduced integration can alleviate this. Isn't this page saying that Type 16 does that automatically? Or are "Type 16" and "Formulation 16" referring to different things?

Selectively reduced is a mix of full integration and reduced integration, basically doing full integration for some parts of the stiffness matrix and reduced for others. Please read more about it here if you're interested. Hope this helps lead you on a good path!
