Hi People,

I hope someone can help, I am trying to modify something in Catia drafting in the sheet background view but every time I try I get the

"The selected or active view is currently locked, Therefore the current action is impossible and will be aborted. Please refer to the view properties to lock or unlock the views"

On working views it is pretty easy to lock/unlock views using the Right Hand Mouse and using properties, but there is no way I can find to do this on the sheet background. It just says "No properties available for these objects"

I tried the "prevent background view access toggle" in options but that made no difference either.

Any ideas?

Its probably something simple I am missing

Thanks in advance

Hi, DigitalMe2. I have the same problem but no ideas. Did you find the solution?

Try selecting the view in the tree and use the edit drop down menu --> properties. maybe post a picture or a better description of your situation.

Well, I need to insert 2D-component from Detail-Sheet to Drawing Sheet on Sheet Background. All views on drawing is unlocked. But every time I try I get the window with error
"The selected or active view is currently locked, Therefore the current action is impossible and will be aborted. Please refer to the view properties to lock or unlock the views"
In case I deleted all sheets and create a new one when I have no problem with inserting 2D-component to Sheet Background.

My thought is since your trying to insert the 2D component in the background, you have a active or red view in the working views. catia is probably considering that active view as non-editable or locked since its not in the sheet background. double click the the top item in the tree until all the views in the working views are blue (no active views on the sheet) and try again.

I try different ways with active top item, with active sheet...Also I tried lock and unlock all views again. Still not working. I noticed something: I have some components (were insert earlier) and I can copy (ctrl+c) and paste - in tree RMB on sheet and in list of options "Paste"(ctrl+v not working). But I can't change 2d-compoment which I pasted or any other components on sheet background

And also options on component like "Explode", "Expose", "Replace References" not available

Which version/release of CATIA are you using?

V5 2020, 'prevent background view access' is off. The same Catia but the other drawing all changes on background is ok. In broken drawing on Sheet Background I can draw some geometry (lines, circle etc.) but can't delete. So I guess the problem is in the options on current sheet or can it be some bug?

Try this:

I try this option on/off but with no result. I unlocked all views by properties of view and one time more with macros. That also not helps. System administrator find another macros wich lock/unlock views and checking links. After locking and unlocking all views with that macros sheet background start working. Thanks a lot everyone for help !

Glad to hear you got it working.

Do you use a macro (or program) to fill in the drawing's titleblock? If you do, the programmer may have locked the background to force you to use his program.

I've got this drawings already done by others. I need to do some changes in it. So maybe some of them were filled with macro(or program). It is the first time then 'prevent background access" can't help with locking sheet background.
"If you do, the programmer may have locked the background to force you to use his program." - good idea, I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!
