Good Morning all.

Has anyone used a tool that will add louvers to a sheet metal part?

Thanks in advance

In the design library, located in a tab on the left side of SW '07, you'll find a folder named 'Design Library'. In there you'll find forming tools including one for louvers.

One thing to note, the forming tool operations will not flatten when you create a flat pattern. See the SolidWorks help for a good explanation on how to position the forming features. Search "forming tool".

... and if you've never used the Forming Tools folder before, you will probably have to RMB on the folder and select the Forming Tools Folder option. That option has to be selected before the features in that folder actually work the way they are supposed to. For some unknown reason it is not selected by default.

Hi all,
I am trying to drag and drop the forming tool into my graphics area but it is not doing so. It asks me if i want to make a derived part and if i click yes the preview appears and it wont swap sides if i click the tab key. could anyone please help me out with this. Thank you so very much.

richierich316 ... read my post above.

BTW, what you are seeing is not a preview. It is the derived part you told SW to create when you clicked the 'yes' button.

Thank you so very much for the reply CorBlimeyLimey. I realised that SW is creating a derived part since in the feature manager tree the object is shown as a part with external reference. But what am i supposed to do in order to get the form feature to work when i drag and drop it in the graphics area.

After that, you have to drop the feature onto your sheetmetal part, not just into the graphics area.
