I have tried to import a Pro/E sheetmetal part into DesignSpace, both singly and as part of an assembly. It failed. Ansys says that DesignSpace does not yet support thin parts which require shell elements.

Is this true? Does any one have other experience with this? [sig]
Mike Pinch
[/sig]

Hi Mike,
We once tested this feature and exported a shell part in SAT format and it works.
Our DS version is 6.1. However, it only accepts one single part. If you have many parts it will not work. I do not know how things in version 7 are going to be yet.

Wow it was over two years since I posted the message! Thanks for the reply, mertsi. I will investigate the newer versions of DesignSpace.

design can actually import sheet metal piece from autodesk inventor without any problem, but you have to be carefull, because designspace cannot deal with large deflexion, so if your part is pretty thin, the result you will et won't be valid. In order to get a good result, you must use ansys professionel, which is harder to use, or get the new ansys 7.0, which will be like designspace, but with the capabilities of ansys pro.
