hi
I am modeling a frame using shell elements, i am modeling the frame with perforated beams.
I want to define the connection between the beam shell element and the column one. I tried with joint connection and it didnt work very well. I want to model it as semi rigid connections.
Can anyone help please :)
Thank you

Hello Ani989

Are you doing a research? Can't you use dedicated software for that eg Ansys?

Anyway, model the frame element through at least 2 shells. Release the frame somewhere inside the shell. Add a flexible element at the release, unfortunately you will need to review uses of a link element.

hi, thanks for your reply
I am using ansys as well to model the 3d steel frame with perforated beams. the elements are modeled using shell281
I want to define the connection between the beam and column as a moment frame with semi rigid connection.
Because when I run the nonlinear analysis it is says poorly connected.
I have attached an imagine of my frame.
thanks
