Shoreline Reclamation 2

On a trip to Germany I had the opportunity to overfly areas of the North Sea coastline in a small airplane. One feature stood out, what appeared to be strings of cribbing along the inner shorelines. My host described it as land reclamation. The unit size appeared to be 6-7 m2.

Has this been implemented with success in the US or other locations?

A recent Nat'l Geographic shows aerial photo of a similar approach being used to save the Mississippi delta land that has been ever-decreasing since the river was channelized. The photo shows rock, not cribbing, that was installed off-shore, and you can see how the beach is filling in behind the rock.

My son has a semi-detached house with a river at the bottom of the fairly short and 45 degree sloped back garden in Christchurch England. The house stands about 20 feet above the river.There is an old concrete quay below which is breaking up and falling into the river slowly. How can we create a stable footing at the low tide mark strong enough to build and backfill onto?
Piling and tying back with duckbill anchors has been suggested but we don't want to bring the back garden down
into the river as I personally think the soil was made up to it's present shape when the house was built in the 1930's
The visible river bed looks to be mainly gravel along with broken concrete chunks that have been undermined from the quay by the river.
Also as this is a domestic property we are trying to find an affordable solution - Any thoughts on how to go about this appreciated.

Possible solution is to water jet the loose gravel and place some fabriform concrete bags filled with concrete as a base . This will provide a good footing these can be placed under water easily and are good for 4/m sec currents.

Prepakt,
The first time I heard about Prepakt was when I read about Steinman's Big Mac Bridge. They had deep foundations that were filled with gravel and then progressively filled with grout, underwater. What's the status of this type specialty in view of the needs in the NO, LA disaster?

Washed out levees should be religated to the past. It harkens back to the Galveston disaster of ~100 yrs ago. They rebuilt Galveston with a high concrete retaining wall, elevated the land within with sand slurry fill, and raised existing houses within. Looks like a great opportunity for Prepakt. I don't think they are going to abandon NO, LA.

Still can be done, There has recently been some interest
in these techniques by the Nuclear industry.It was used for reactor construction.
