Hi all,
I am tasked with shoring an existing clay brick wall. The situation I have is the brick wall is not parallel to the column grid line. This forces me to "shim" the horizontal W8 near the top back to the columns. What I have presently shown is L6x6 at the tips of the inner column flanges. I am concerned with weld access and potential column flange buckling. The maximum distance the right side W8 flange is from the column flange is almost 6" at one end of the wall down to 0" (no angles needed). Does anyone have a better idea (other than these angles) to attach the W8 to the column? Thanks.
